Tim Lester
2004 Coaching Assistant

Tim Lester was affectionately know as 'The Bus Driver' in an eight-year NFL career, on account of the four seasons he spent at the Pittsburgh Steelers blocking for running back Jerome 'The Bus' Bettis.

A graduate of Criminology and Psychology at the Eastern Kentucky University, Tim was a 10th round pick by the Los Angeles Rams, where he started his pro career in 1992. The former full-back moved to the Steelers in 1995 before joining the Dallas Cowboys in 1999, where he blocked for the NFL's record-breaking running back Emmitt Smith. A recurring knee injury forced Tim into retirement in the year 2000 after his proud playing career.

A resident of Miami Lakes, Florida, for the last year Tim has been working as assistant head football coach and offensive coordinator at Melbourne Central Catholic High School. In 2001, shortly after announcing his retirement, he was volunteer coach and team counselor at Chaminade Madonna Catholic School, graduating to become recruitment coordinator and running backs' coach.

He was awarded the NFL's 'Unsung Hero' award in 1995 and 1996 and, unsurprisingly, service to the community plays a huge part in Tim's life today. In 2000 he formed Tim Lester Cares Inc, a non-profit organization that provides guidance, direction and support to at-risk student athletes to allow them to fulfil their academic and athletic potential. The world of TLC Inc has featured regularly on NFL Films, ESPN and ABC and in the pages of the Miami Herald.
