Pro Career: A key player in 1995 and 1996, Ben returns to the team after spending last season working as the Claymores Schools Development Officer. He will concentrate on developing his special teams skills this season after filling a dual role as running back and special teams player in his first two seasons ... In first season with the Claymores he notched up five tackles, six kick-off returns for 97 yards and kicked nine punts averaging 34.3 yards per kick ... 1996 Recorded three tackles on special teams while returning two kick-offs for 21 yards ... Regarded as the driving emotional force behind the Claymores 1996 World Bowl win at Murrayfield. .

College Amateur: First became exposed to American football in 1981 while visiting his cousin in Canada ... In 1986, he joined the Harrowgate Hawks where he starred as the team's featured running back ... Torriero left the Hawks in 1989 joining the Nottingham Hoods in the British gridiron's division one for one season ... In 1991 he moved to the Leeds Cougars ... During the last two off-seasons Torriero has continued to star on the Scottish amateur gridiron scene, first with the Glasgow Lions before moving, last year, to the Lothian Raiders.

Personal: First generation Scot born in Edinburgh of Italian parents ... Has capitalised on his professional gridiron career working as a television presenter on Sky and guesting on Scottish Television's Touchdown Scotland programme. During the last two years Torriero has worked tirelessly in helping develop gridiron at grassroots level in Scotland through schools visits programmes and the World League Experience. "We try to teach kids football in a fun way," says Ben. "The greatest reward for me is seeing them pick up the game and learning how to throw and catch the ball."
